About E-tutoring

If you make an e-tutoring appointment, you’ll upload a copy of your writing to the online scheduling system (uncc.mywconline.com) for a tutor to review. During the hour you booked for a session, the tutor will take a look at your writing and send you a feedback letter by the end of the hour. Although face-to-face sessions provide the best learning conditions, anyone may schedule an e-tutoring appointment. You don’t actually have to be present for the session, which makes this a great choice for clients who have busy schedules.

Remember, our goal is to help teach you to identify and understand the strengths and weaknesses of your writing, help you find answers, and help you learn how to research, write, revise, and proofread on your own. We want you to become a better writer by learning how to improve the quality of your writing overall, not just to improve the quality of one specific paper.

How E-tutoring Sessions Work

Schedule an Appointment

You’ll first need to make an appointment using our online scheduler (uncc.mywconline.com). While you’re filling out the Appointment Form, please give your tutor as much information as possible in the “What writing are you bringing to discuss?” box. This is the only time you will be able to share your questions or comments with your tutor, so be as detailed as you can.

Any UNC Charlotte student, faculty, or staff member is welcomed to schedule an appointment using our online scheduler (uncc.mywconline.com). For more information on how to schedule your online appointment now, visit our Schedule an Appointment page.

Upload a Document

Before your session begins, you’ll need to upload a document for your tutor to review. Due to compatibility, we are only able to accept documents within 1MB in size. The document will need to be .doc, .docx, or .pdf. If your file is in another format, please export that file as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf.

There are two ways to upload a document: 1) when you make an appointment, or 2) after you make an appointment. Read below for a complete list of directions.

Uploading a Document When You Schedule an Appointment

If you’re ready to upload a document when you schedule an appointment, follow these directions:

  1. Log into your account at uncc.mywconline.com.
  2. Click on any white box to schedule an appointment.
  3. Fill out the Appointment Form.
  4. Click Save Appointment. After you click Save Appointment, a confirmation message will appear on your screen that reads: “Success! Your appointment was successfully added on the following date: [insert date]. If you would like to attach a file to this appointment, click here.
  5. Click on click here to attach a file.
  6. Choose the correct appointment from the drop-down menu to attach your document.
  7. Click Choose File and attach the desired document. Acceptable file formats are .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
  8. Fill in the document’s title in the “Document Title” box.
  9. Click Upload File.

Uploading a Document After You Schedule an Appointment

If you want to upload your document after you’ve already scheduled an appointment, or want to update the document you’ve already uploaded, follow these directions:

  1. Log into your account at uncc.mywconline.com.
  2. Click on the yellow folder icon in the top left corner under “Welcome, [your name]!” (When you hover your mouse over the folder icon, the pop-up text will read: “Attach a File to an Existing Appointment.")
  3. Choose the correct appointment from the drop-down menu to attach your document.
  4. Click Choose File and attach the desired document. Acceptable file formats are .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
  5. Fill in the document’s title in the “Document Title” box.
  6. Click Upload File.

Receive Tutor Feedback

After the session has ended, you will receive an email with a Client Report Form, which gives you information about the appointment. You may also receive your tutor’s feedback letter as an email attachment. If you do not receive feedback via email, or can’t find the email at a later date, you can always access your tutor’s feedback through our online scheduler (uncc.mywconline.com).

Accessing Feedback Through the Online Scheduler

You can follow these directions to access your tutor’s feedback letter through the online scheduler:

  1. Log into your account at uncc.mywconline.com.
  2. Click on your e-tutoring appointment time to open your Appointment Form.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the Appointment Form.
  4. Click on the document that your tutor has uploaded into the “Attached Files” section to download your tutor’s feedback letter.
