After graduating from high school, Chip spent two years as a missionary among the Hmong people in Minnesota, where he braved the cold, learned the language, and taught in almost every setting imaginable. He attended Davidson College and completed his student teaching at North Mecklenburg High School. He has since taught English and Language Arts at various middle schools, high schools, and Central Piedmont Community College. He has tutored both privately and at an Atlanta-based tutoring center, where he helped students with SAT prep, college essays, and GPA management. The most recent class he taught was Developmental Reading and Writing II, which ended summer 2014.

Research interests:

Anything in the humanities.
